17.0Skip’ Family After the War
On13th February 1947, the RAAF officially presumed Skip to have died whilst a POW of the Japanese. It was approximately 3 years and nine months after Skip was last sighted. With three small children, Marjorie was supported by her mother and brothers and the Bailey family.
It was about this time that Marjorie met, through a mutual friend, Gordon Stewart (Rusty) Cuming. Rusty’s father was from a farming community of Korbel, south west of Merredin, Western Australia. They married on 29th May 1948 at Saint Columbas Church, South Perth, W.A.. Marjorie was thirty one years of age and Rusty twenty eight.
